A Planet by Marc Streitenfeld.

One of the biggest question marks about Prometheus for me was the score. Ridley Scott’s two science-fiction masterpieces possess and incredible, dynamic and completely immersive score. I guess I should’ve be surprised that Prometheus also has an amazing score. Just like the film, it’s different from Alien but you can still feel/hear traces of it.

The Equation by Chad Seiter.

Like it is the case with so many shows, the first season of Fringe is still by far the strongest. In terms of presenting this new mysterious universe and its vastness, it excelled in such a way that subsequent seasons couldn’t. While the score has improved, I still can’t get enough of this first one.

Lie Down In Darkness by Moby.

Even though Moby got a lot of recognition with the album Play, I started to really like his work once he released Wait For Me. With this later part of his career, Moby has gone for a different mood and sound that I personally think is much more interesting and enthralling. While Destroyed is no Wait For Me, it is nevertheless a splendid album.

The Driver Returns - Playlist:

One of the few films that i immediately fell in love with last year was Drive. An all-around perfect masterpiece in my opinion, and the music was by far one of its greatest accomplishments. The way it connected with Driver was awe-inspiring.

This playlist is what I think the sequel (that will probably never happen) would sound like.

  1. Lady by The Chromatics.
  2. Metamorphis by Trentemoller.
  3. * by M83.
  4. Colorless Sky by Desire.
  5. Get Off The Bus by Cliff Martinez.
  6. Desaccords by Thomas Bangalter.
  7. Wait/Awake by 2:54.
  8. There’s Light Our On the Horizon by The Chromatics.
  9. Lie Down In Darkness by Moby.
  10. Das Malefitz by Faunts.

Enjoy!

King of the North by Ramin Djawadi.

Even though I’m still not caught up with all the episodes of season 2, I gotta say that one of the things that is impressing me the most is Robb Stark. Stark become my favourite character during the end of season 1 and it’s really amazing to see how much he has changed. Richard Madden is giving a truly brilliant performance that is worthy of everything single praise.

Kill Them All by Ramin Djawadi.

TV shows for me have never been a place where I could find dynamic, amazing and beautifully crafted scores. Yes, some shows use a couple of tracks that are great but none of them come close to Game of Thrones. There is a consistent greatness in Ramin Djawadi’s work for Game of Thrones and every track is simply amazing. Djawadi gets to the core of the mythology, the world and internal emotions of the characters.

Get Off the Bus by Cliff Martinez.

Saw Contagion last night for the 4th time, but it was my first time watching it with the amazing home theatre system my parents have. This film is easily one of the most sonically pleasing films ever. And the score comes so alive! Cliff Martinez’s work here is pure brilliance.

Olivia by Chris Tilton.

Even though I’ve had my issues with the show since the second season, one aspect of it that has remained and in a way evolved into something even more beautiful has been the score. I’m glad that the show has opted to give Chris Tilton the principal score duties, as his songs are by far the best.
