I will never forget the first time I saw this scene not only because it completely killed me emotionally, but more importantly because this was the moment that I realized what an absolutely brilliant actor Brad Pitt is. I had only seen him in Fight Club and Twelve Monkeys and yes, he was good in those two but not like this. Throughout Se7en his performance has this cool and suave naivety going on until this scene where things hit home and he breaks down completely. All that disbelief, pain and vulnerability he shows here always blows me mind. It’s amazing.

So let me just say: “All. The. Motherfucking. Awards.”

Fredo, you’re nothing to me now. You’re not a brother, you’re not a friend. I don’t want to know you or what you do. I don’t want to see you at the hotels, I don’t want you near my house. When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance, so I won’t be there. You understand?
Michael Corleone (from The Godfather, Part II)

“So you’re sitting watching the screen. Scenes from Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Graduate, Catch 22, Carnal Knowledge. And I remember sitting there thinking ‘why aren’t we making movies like this?’ And then I saw The Social Network and I realized, every now and then, we are.”
