Finished season 1 of Downton Abbey a couple of days ago and if you haven’t seen this show yet, you should really get on it. I’ve always enjoyed British period pieces and even though this one doesn’t take place so far off, I found myself really loving everything that went on in Downton Abbey. The characters are really rich and keep the unpredictability high even after you think you’ve figured them out. But the two aspects that take centre stage are the performances and the writing. The dialogue is superb, witty, interesting and ultimately very affecting similarly to the way the performances are. A lot of people, myself included, expressed a lot of apprehension towards this show but it is truly worth your time.
